Before you take Codeine

It is recommended that you do not take Codeine if you ever had or have an allergic reaction to a narcotic drug, like:

Take Codeine properly

Firstly, you should take Codeine exactly as it is prescribed to you by your healthcare provider. Never adjust the dosage of your drugs by yourself, always follow the directions on the prescription label. If you feel that the treatment with Codeine does not bring any effects, please consult with your healthcare provider.


Take Codeine by mouth with a full glass of water. It is recommended that you drink 6-8 full glasses of water every day, because it will help to avoid constipation while you are on treatment with Codeine.


Codeine may be taken with or without food, if the drug upsets your stomach, you can try taking it with food. Do not quit taking Codeine suddenly, when your system gets used to the drug, it can’t get go back on functioning without the drug, which is why some withdrawal symptoms may occur.

What to avoid while taking Codeine?
